FUN FOR KIDS

In my life before real estate, I was a teacher. I always believed (and still do) that we learn best when we're having fun. This page is dedicated to fun. Hope you enjoy it. I check my links often, but if you find any that don't work, please do me a favor and email me at Karen@sussexhome.com and let me know. Thanks!

Something you can do in Sussex County that you can't do everywhere is go dogsledding. You'll read in the local newspapers when it's available in one of the state parks here. For several years when I taught in Florida, my class would follow the Iditarod, a dogsled race called "The Last Great Race." (One year for Halloween, all the kids dressed as sled dogs. I was the musher or person directing them. And, we won first prize in the Halloween contest!) Anyway, the link that follows is the best one for the whole event which begins every year on the first Saturday in March. Click on Iditarod and have fun!

This winter in Sussex County we have had a lot of snow which has made the skiiers and snowboarders very happy. One of the best websites I've found is that of Mountain Creek in Vernon. It even has webcam shots which can be made into wallpaper for your computer. Take a look.

Here in Sussex County, we have a minor league baseball team, the New Jersey Cardinals. They play in a relatively new stadium and from almost all the seats you can see the players extremely well. It's a great way to really see a game. Click on New Jersey Cardinals to see their website.

Do you like to hike? Can you ever do it in Sussex County! There are loads of trails including one very near my house, the 26- mile Paulinskill Trail, which used to be a railroad bed. Also, you can hike part of the famous Appalachian Trail which runs through Sussex County on its route between Georgia and Maine. The best site I've found is below. Just click on Sussex County Trails.
